Conservation Commission Minutes 2011/08/03
Sunapee Conservation Commission Meeting Date August 3, 2011
Present: Tim Fleury, Bruce Burdett, Rem Mastin, Robert Hill, Lela Emery
Absent: Roger Whitaker, Van Webb
Robert Hill made the motion to accept the minutes of June 2011 as written. Motion was seconded by Rem Mastin. All in Favor 5, Opposed 0.
A Sunapee resident has expressed an interest in a 40 acre abutting parcel for sale to then be protected. The parcel abuts Rt 11 and Granliden. The resident has approached the SCC to see if this project would be something we would be interested in. SCC members are interested in staying in the loop on this potential project but it has a long way to go with many factors. Robert Hill made the mother to contribute the amount not to exceed $300 toward an appraisal on a parcel listed for sale that the SCC is interested in pursuing as a conservation project. Subject to approval by town council. Seconded by Bruce Burdett. All in favor 4. Opposed 1. Abstained 0.
Field Stone – Claremont Savings Bank has indicated to the SCC that the asking price has been lowered on Lot 6 in the development. SCC members had submitted an offer of $25,000 which was denied. Rem Mastin made the motion to offer Claremont Savings Bank $55,000 for Lot 6 at Field Stone Hills. Lela Emery seconded the motion. All in favor 1, Opposed 4, Abstained 0
Webb Flint parcel will be the next parcel to be placed in Conservation Easement. Beth from ASLPT brought this parcel and project forward to the board and ASLPT would be interested in holding the easement. A warrant article would need to be presented to merge the 26 acre parcel from the Field Stone Hills development with the Webb Flint parcel. A separate warrant article on the Webb Flint easement is necessary if SCC moves forward with the project.
Van attended the Planning Board meeting on the 3 acre parcel donated to the town by Ludwig on Jobs Creek Road. The donation received the board’s approval however the paperwork will be delayed due to the attorney recovering from an accident.
Ledge Pond – ASPLT members went to visit Ledge Pond and have reported that it is in shambles with evidence of camping and needs to be cleaned up. A clean up day has been scheduled for August 15th. ASPLT is having an invite walk of Ledge Pond on August 18th.
Scott and Van had Chippers work on Ski Tow Hill and kill poison ivy at Dewey Beach.
